According to cardiologists, left-sided chest pain can be a signal of coronary artery disease (CAD). Delayed treatment might be leading to a serious risks of stroke and heart attack that threaten their lives.
Coronary arteries are blood vessels which provide oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscle. Upon narrowing or blockage in the coronary arteries, the heart doesn’t get enough oxygen supply, causing chest pain on exertion or even a heart attack.
CAD is the most common heart disease and also the leading cause of death among cardiovascular diseases in the world. The risk factors of CAD include high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, smoking, family history of coronary artery, etc.
